BER-Urge

It is "BER" months once again.Festivities are lining-up and so are sumptuous meals. The cool northeast wind making our moods gala. It is the season where everyone are so busy gaining pounds and neglect the weighting scale inside the dark closet.

Everyone is asking how to keep up with all these carbs - carbs right after another. We are all aware that "BER" makes us FAT. So how do you keep yourself fit and in shape once December celebrations are over while still enjoying the light and happy eating mood in the air? You need to be prepared for the next season - SUMMER, right?

John Spainhour.

Well, here are the tips I can give as I am also a fitness and health enthusiast overboarding being vain. Hahaha.

1. Eat in PORTION. Meaning? Be in moderate mode. Gluttony is a crime and too bad for your health. Taste anything you want in the table but be sure too take only a portion and not the whole plate. Being hungry is not right and definitely being too bloated after a delicious meal is not good either.

2. Follow the INVERTED PYRAMID. You take a full breakfast, moderate on your lunch, and light on your dinner with once snack time in late afternoon. As the sun goes down, lessen your food intake as your activities also winding up.

3. Never SKIP a meal. We all know this thing but we always end up doing it. It is never a reason that you are busy or too lazy for most to skip a meal. Always remember that when you are skipping a meal, you don't get the nutrition that you need. It also affects the metabolism of the body as there is nothing to digest. In addition, when our body recognizes hunger, it begins to store fat in order to compensate leading to more bad cholesterol.

One more thing, your brain will send a signal that you are hungry throughout the day until it is satisfied making you compensate for the next meal. Surely, you will eat many and less nutritious. You are also abusing yourself and be less productive when starving. Thus, abolish the mindset that skipping meal is effective in losing weight because in reality you get fatter than thinner.

4. Practice the FOUR HOUR I-EAT-ROUTINE. You need to eat every four hours until your last meal which is dinner. The food intake and digestion takes around that window to complete depending on your metabolism. Don't suppress the urge to eat after 3-4 hours because it is normal. Remember the #3.

5. No to MIDNIGHT MADNESS. Please avoid eating at midnight. As for me, no eating after 9pm. Those who sneak in their cupboards, cookie jars, and refrigerator - STOP!!! Mostly when you are just watching TV or the lazy button is ON. As the day is coming to an end, your body is program to digest because your system need to rest too. Another factor would be you have less activities at night and you cannot burn all those calories - not unless you have calorie burning activity at night (***winks).

6. Do not ABUSE your BODY. Vices is one of the enemy of your body. So this coming season avoid excessive drinking, smoke, and more importantly DRUGS.

7. REST. Make sure to have at least 7 hours of continuous and peaceful sleep after the parties and festivities. Your body needs to cope up with stress and tiredness.

8. Memorize the FORMULA. Remember this - 80% diet and 20% exercise. Excessive food intake is bad and likewise, excessive work-out could kill you. At most, two hours of exercise is enough per day.

So stay in shape while enjoying. I will try to give more advices before summer trends. Good luck. :D
